8.30 Tuesday morning at Dean Park. The music starts. Children appear from all corners of the hall. They can’t get their coats off quick enough. There’s a real sense of excitement in the air. But what is the cause of all this peculiar behaviour?
The person standing on the stage is the reason, for Dean Park was fortunate to have received a visit from Edinburgh choreographer, Simon Hunter, founder of Simon Says Dance. Unassuming but with a big presence, Simon filled the room with music and dance, all in aid of launching our Wake Up! and Shake Up! campaign.
It started with an energetic warm up followed by a series of ‘cool’ and fun dances to a number of popular songs familiar to the children. Parents and staff joined in too – where there was room – as the hall was as busy as it’s ever been.
It was a fantastic morning and wonderful to see so many children take part and start their school day feeling energised and ready to learn!
We are extremely grateful to Simon for generously donating his time and energy and for memorably kick-starting the Health Committee’s fabulous new campaign. Wake Up! and Shake Up! will now take place every Tuesday morning 8.40am.
