On Tuesday 27th February, just before the snow struck, Dean Park played host to the Rotary Club of Currie Balerno 2018 Primary Schools Quiz.
68 children from 6 local primary schools (Clovenstone, Currie, Dean Park, Juniper Green, Nether Currie and Ratho) attended, the largest entry in the 8 years it has been running. Each of the 17 teams comprised 4 children, with some schools fielding 3 teams and others 2. Dean Park entered 3 teams this year, 1 from each of the P7 classes.
The quiz was split into 8 sections, each one focusing on a specific area of the curriculum, with the last round on general knowledge. Although a formal set up, the quiz was generally light-hearted with everyone in good spirits.
The mantle of winning the trophy was handed over from last year’s winners, Dean Park, to Currie Primary, whose Blue team won the competition. Dean Park’s Red team were only 2 points away from 3rd place. Huge well done to the deserving winners and to all those who took part. The children are all to be commended on how well they worked as a team, and each represented their school impeccably.
The large number of members from the Rotary Club who attended to ensure the smooth and fair running of the Quiz, highlighted how much credence and support they give to this event. We are very grateful to them for affording our children this opportunity and experience.
The winners will now go through to the next round in the District competition and we wish them the very best of luck!
