Two former Dean Park pupils, Rachel Saunders and Daniel Saunders (age 13 and 15 respectively), are currently swimming a storm having achieved great success at the recent Scottish National Age Group Championships in Glasgow.
Rachel came away with 4 gold medals – in the freestyle relay and in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke, making her Scottish champion. Daniel won 3 silvers and 1 bronze medal, placing him in the top ranking at national level for his age group.
Although their talent in the pool was fostered outwith of school, the siblings’ swimming abilities were encouraged and supported throughout their time at Dean Park, and they represented the school at numerous swim events, bringing notable achievement to Dean Park (and to themselves!) and accordingly each were made House Captain when they entered P7.
We’re very proud of Rachel’s and Daniel’s achievements and we will continue to watch their progress with keen interest over the coming years.
