Five pupils from P5 and P4 decided to channel their creative skills into raising money for Streetwork, a charity which supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The girls chose this charity as they were concerned for people with no homes.
Phoebe, Sophie, Martha, Layla and Ruby made a selection of hand crafted items, from clay marbled trinket bowls to fabric-decorated terracotta flower pots, and used air-dry clay to make and hand decorate bowls, fridge magnets and hanging decorations.
They packaged, priced and labelled their items, working over a 4 month period during holidays, Friday afternoons and weekends to get everything ready for selling at the Balerno Farmer’s Market as well as to friends and family.
The enterprising five made a fantastic £558.30 from all their endeavours. The girls are already planning their next charity project! What an inspiring bunch!
