Chess is a great social activity that brings children together, whilst at the same time encouraging a healthy sense of competitiveness. The aim of the Club is to give children (P4-P7) the opportunity to learn and play the game of chess whilst having fun. The tutor will focus on developing each child’s skills in the game, as well as encouraging the child’s own thinking.
Each child will receive an introductory book so they can practise and share their skills at home.
Where: Chess Club is held in the library.
Chess Club takes place during the school lunch break 12.30-1.15pm every Thursday. Chess Club runs 2 groups which are generally ability based (A for more experienced players and B for new and developing players). Each group, depending on term length will run in blocks of 5 or 6 weeks.
Children are required to bring a packed lunch that day.
